When were you most touched by a ceremony?

Cat Is All That
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for September 17, 2007:
The one I will mention is- surprisingly- Ronald Reagan's funeral.
I was too young to vote when he was the president, but I was a very political youth. I despised him when he was in office.
When he died, I found myself watching the funeral and I was filled with so many different, significant feelings.
I realized how much the country had changed. I realized the difference between this president who had a moral belief system that I did not agree and the current president who I belief wears his morals as a shield against his immoral actions.
Reagan had planned his own funeral and it was filled with so many rituals of significance to American history. 21 gun salute, airforce flight, the speakers. It filled me with pride for this country. And I appreciated that this man did so to remind us all of the beauty of being American,
and finally, I was moved because it made me aware of who I was when he was a president- an idealistic adolescent- and the always-trying-to-remain- idealistic adult I am now.
